Mélanie Bernier is the founder and head translator of WordFrog Inc. Over a decade of working as a translator in her native language of Canadian French, she has developed the extensive knowledge base required to translate technical documents. Mélanie’s clients most appreciate her promptness, reliability and ability to ‘think beyond the text’. Backed by a marketing-broadcasting degree and a technical writing certificate, she takes into account effectiveness and compliance of her translations.
I was a registered nurse for 21 years first in gynecology/surgery at Montfort Hospital, then the artificial kidney unit (AKU or Hemodialysis) and the intensive care unit (ICU) at the Ottawa General Hospital from 1974 to 1996. I translated the English book "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Treatment Guide 2nd Edition" from Erica F. Verrillo to French (Syndrome de Fatigue Chronique Guide de traitemet 2ième édition) in 2017 through the Babelcube site.
I graduated from a Master's Degree in English-to-French translation, specialized in audiovisual medias (subtitling, dubbing, translation of scenari and film critics, etc.), beside a career in acting. Apart from that, I'm happily married to a sound engineer and film editor, which means I know my fair share about filmmaking and post-production and I can also produce quality voice-overs for home :)
20 years experience in translating in English and in French for the public and private sectors, including among others government documents, tourism information, artist portfolios and riders, international cooperation, in Canada and abroad, with an interest for literary translation.
