I am a state-certified translator and have been translating for over 40 years. I am an American and have also lived and been educated in England (so I speak "both" versions of English). I have been living in Germany for about 40 years, so am fully fluent in the German language and know the culture and business vernacular extremely well. I studied history and political science and served in the military as an officer for many years and have worked in the industrial sector - so these are the areas with which I am very familiar.

I'm Kris Thielemans, a bilingual translator with more than 20 years experience translating, localising, editing, and writing in English and Dutch (Flemish). Due to my background as an MA in philosophy and art history, I've specialised in the translation of academic work in the humanities and social sciences. I am a lifelong linguist (originally graduating in Russian from Oxford before working in Japan for 12 years and mastering that language) who has been working as a translator since 2014, though my first paid translation work was in 1994 in Moscow.
