Hello!
My name is Samantha and I have lived in Japan for 3 years and have worked as an interpreter and translator for 4 years.
Greetings, and thank you for coming to my profile. I have lived in Japan for six years as a language teacher, study abroad student, translator, and interpreter. I specialized in philosophy and Japanese at the University of Colorado and then later got my masters in philosophy and science studies at Central European University. I have translated a wide variety of source material, from legal and medical documents to social media campaigns to essays. I look forward to working on your project!
I am a freelance Japanese to English translator with a background in Women's Gender & Sexuality Studies. I have translation experience ranging from business e-mails to video clips and lengthy historical texts. With the highest level of certification (N1) of the JLPT exam and a perfect score in the reading section, you can be confident in my commitment to accurate translation work.
I am a lifelong linguist (originally graduating in Russian from Oxford before working in Japan for 12 years and mastering that language) who has been working as a translator since 2014, though my first paid translation work was in 1994 in Moscow.
I aim to work hard to establish a good reputation with agencies and private clients. I am prepared to be flexible about rates where regular work or large projects are concerned.
I look forward to working on translation projects through 2drops.
I have the JLPTN1 certification and an MLCS Translation study certificate issued by the University of Alberta in Japanese translation.
My expertise lies in video game news, descriptions, and localization.
However, I have also translated documents for the Tokyo Olympics and various documents requested from the board of education in Yamagata regarding medical and school notices.
