Mother tongue Italian. A degree in languages and literatures in 1992 with thesis about translation of proverbs and idiomatic expressions from English into Italian. Living in the US since December 2018.
I have been studying and using languages for more than ten years and it has always been my biggest passion. I had a technical background, I went to a college in Italy where the main subjects were IT, Electronics and Mechanics. Then I worked for a few years as a Web Designer. In 2008 I started my new career path towards foreign languages. In 2011 I graduated in Modern Languages at the University di Verona in Italy. During and after my studies I lived in France, Spain, and South America and USA for a few years. I moved to the UK in 2014 and here in Manchester, I found my home away from home. In 2019 obtained a MA in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Manchester. I have been working at Booking.com for many years, and my last job role was translation management and language solutions expert. Thanks to that and my experience in the translation field, I have grown comfortable with the use of CAT tools.
I am an Italian native speaker, French bilingual with bi-nationality and have spent the last few years living, working and studying in France. I have been working as a freelance translator during the past years for websites, media companies, tourism industry and business. My areas of expertise are technical documentation, tourism and hospitality, food and gastronomy, marketing, botany, textile and fashion, cosmetics, scripts and subtitles translation, art and literature, education. I am a user of Wordfast and I work, besides EN>IT, also in the language pairs FR>IT and IT>FR. I was trained to be a translator at the University of Nice in France, where I obtained a Master's degree in translation, subtitling and dubbing. During my years of work and study, I have mastered my linguistic, glossary building and terminology research skills and have translated technical and literary texts, ads, websites and general documentation.
Motivated by a deep interest in foreign cultures and their ways to express meanings, I gained experience in different multilingual working environments, thus training my adaptability and flexibility among various European languages. After having completed my studies in the fields of specialized and literary translation, I am now pursuing a professional career as both a freelance and an in-house translator and transcreator.
